WHO ARE WE ?
V Cuisine ltd was established in January 2010 in the delightful street Happy Hills in West Kilbride.
The V in V Cuisine stands for Vegetarian as that is all we do.
My background has been in catering for over 25 years and i started to specialise in vegetarian cooking 12 years ago.
When developing the products i took advice from family and friends on what meals they enjoyed best that i had prepared for them over the years and then set about making a recipe that would replicate the dish but in dried form the customer would only have to add water to.
From my tiny kitchen in Happy Hills i set about trying different ingredients, measurements, blending spices, selecting suitable recyclable packaging all the time using my partner and circle of friends as a sounding board until we had a selection of five products they all liked.
We have a strong belief that all foods should be healthy, wholesome and free from artificial additives, you are what you eat.
When coming up with the concept of what V Cuisine should be there were a few key factors that had to be achieved these were.
1) All ingredients used should be natural and free from artificial additives.
2) Where possible all ingredients should be Vegan friendly.
3) All items used in production should be sourced local where possible.
4) All packaging materials should be made from materials that can be recycled or composted.
5) V Cuisine should feed back in to the community where possible when doing business.
With this list of objectives we set about sourcing suppliers that were local and shared our views.
We met many like minded people who were keen to work with us like Ashgrove Publishing based in Kilwinning a council run organisation that gives adults with learning disabilities work experience in the printing business.
They took on the task of designing a simple, wholesome lable that reflected V Cuisine and they were also given the contract to produce all V Cuisine point of sale material, business cards etc and a good working partnership was born and still going strong today.
WHAT WE HAVE ACHIEVED SO FAR
Since January 2010 V Cuisine Ltd is now in 13 shops locally, has an online shop, has been endorsed by the Vegetarian Society and is a member of the Ayrshire Food Network.
We have helped many people with food allergies giving them a wider range of wholesome well priced foods and have managed to expand our range to be suitable for the outdoor/camping market.
We now use cutlery, cups and lids at events that are fully compostable as we believe that our products and packaging should not damage the environment.
WHERE DO WE SEE OURSELVES IN THE FUTURE
V Cuisine would like to be a market leader in using materials and ingredients that will have a positive effect on the body and environment.
We have shown that it is possible to create products that are sustainable, honest and don't cost the earth quite literally.
We have managed to source a new line of disposable cutlery and cups that we will use while out on events, all these can be composted and either the event organiser or V Cuisine will allocate bins to collect and compost the used items.
I hope you enjoy our products and welcome feedback on what you think and also if there is an area you believe V Cuisine should be part of i would love to hear from you.
Kind regards
